Guest speaker

Dave Cordle: The Falkland Islands and In Shackleton's Footsteps.

The Falkland Islands and South Georgia are beautiful and remote. The moorland and low scenery of one contrasts with the towering mountains and ice-caps of the other. We journey to both aboard a small expedition ship, encountering some of the history and particularly the fascinating wildlife on the islands and in and around the Southern Ocean. Down there you can get up close with the wildlife – whales, seals, penguins, albatross and other birds. We’ll see all of these and follow Shackleton’s footsteps across the ice-cap of South Georgia where he completed his epic escape from the ice of the Antarctic.

Duncan Grove FRPS: From novice to fellowship.

Duncan Grove FRPS will relate his experience of going from a complete photography novice to just two years later licensing his first image for several thousand pounds. He will then confess to licensing his second image for £50 with the client going bust before paying him – Duncan contends that it has been pretty much downhill ever since! It cannot have been all bad however. Duncan has recently been awarded the coveted Fellowship, has secured the notoriously elusive Wimbledon photographer accreditation, is Official Photographer for Europe’s largest squash tournament and a regular contributing journalist to Photo Pro magazine. Come and hear him tell how he went about all of this and see some of his exciting images at the same time.
