Club outing to the Dorset Coast - a great day!
01st July 2009
On a sunny Saturday morning 9 members & 2 of their partners set off on what was to turn out to be a rewarding day of photography & adventure.
We started off at 7.30am arriving at Lulworth Cove for around 9.30am. After a few shots of each other in the early stages of shooting the local atmosphere, pond life, barn doors, flowers, etc we arrived at the beach. All split up to explore for a few warm hours in the intense early morning sun, most meeting up for a welcome coffee & ice cream at the beach cafe later in the morning.

All manor of kit was on display from point & shoot to high-end DSLRs with particular interest in a pair of beautiful, highly collectible Nikon F2s, with suitable old lenses & filters. Some of the reportage style, grainy & satin smooth monochromes can be seen in Gordon's Gallery in the site.
We all enjoyed a sample of the local seafood & other snack delights at the nearest hotel restaurant swiftly followed by a 15 minute drive to Kimmeridge Bay. Although the weather had closed in, we got shots of fossils, rock pools, beach landscapes & nudists.
The final journey was to Durdle Door which as the rain started to arrive turned out to allow various shots from bay scenes, to hilltop vistas & rock formations.
The day was capped of by a final weary walk back uphill to the cars & a well deserved pub meal & a pint.
On top of a wonderful day of photography, I think we can all say that the we enjoyed the chat on all manner of photographic subjects & not a small amount of humour to bout.
Please check out our Flickr site from the link on the home page for some samples of the trip.
Thanks to all who made it a great day out.
